Louvre Cladding: De Montfort University

APL Louvres take centre stage at Demontfort University

The new Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre at De Montfort University in Leicester is a materclass in the use of louvres to create a stunning building design.

Designed by S&P Architects, the roll formed louvre profile and live louvre cladding is part of the metal profile portfolio of Architectural Profiles Limited of Woodley near Reading. On first glance the onlooker would consider the 'banding' on the facia to be the differentiation between the live louvre and the louvre profile, but in fact that is simply a difference in colour of the profile. The differentiation between live and profile is more subtle and cannot be easily detected from a distance.

Architectural Profiles Limited provide a comprehensive range of metal cladding profiles together with a range of patented systems for building envelope construction including StrongBak™ Structural Framing System, Energi™ Systems for walls and roofs, APL Cantilever systems for slim verges, parapets and eves and Tritherm™ installation system which is fundamental to all APL systems.

Main contractors at De Montfort University were Morgan Sindall Ltd. and the envelope cladding was installed by RoofDec Ltd.
