APL Energi Systems™ contribute to building's energy efficiency targets.

David Turnock Architects were instructed to design a high quality Head Quarters building for Frenbury Properties near Peterborough Showground; it incorporated several sustainable and environmentally friendly features aimed at reducing the buildings day to day running costs.

Architectural Profiles Limited of Woodley, Berkshire provided several building envelope products and systems which were key to achieving these goals. Both the roof and the walls are APL Energi System™ constructions, the walls being built up from a StrongBak structural framing system, using APL Tritherm Spacers to accommodate the specified thickness of insulation required to provide the ‘super-insulation’ targets. The roof is an APL Energi Roof™, again integrating the APL Tritherm Spacer which also increases overall rigidity of the construction, uses less structural steel and increases energy efficiency.

The APL StrongBak structural Framing system is one of the fastest construction methods of providing early building enclosure with complete air seal, often allowing the following trades in weeks, even months, earlier.

The external walls were finished in a very eye-catching multi-coloured rainscreen system which was also the outer skin of the APL Energi Wall™ system. This is an APL CPS Secret Fix panel system which was provided in non-standard colours to a colour specification given by DT Architects. The overall building looks amazing and performs even better.

The metallic silver profile steel cladding specified for this project is AP50 HR profile, considered by many to be one of the most versatile and cost efficient wall claddings in today's high-tech design and construction market.

AP50 HR is just one of a comprehensive range of profiles and cladding systems from APL which also encompasses long span decking, secret fix standing seam roof profiles, super-thin flat panel rainscreen systems and many wall profiles including both live louvre and louvre profiles systems.

Recent design innovations from APL include a range of 'slim' details encompassing slim verge, parapets and eave details. The structural integrity of these details is provided by APL's patented Tritherm spacer system which is also a fundamental component of most of APL's roof and wall cladding systems.

Architectural Profiles Limited work at the heart of the modern construction industry and state that it is their engineering solutions which are the driving force of the company rather than the more common sales and volume led strategies of other profile providers.
