Evolution @ the AMP
Architectural Profiles Ltds systems and products specified for high performance new build project
Bond Bryan Architects designed this impressive new building on behalf of Dormer Tools for their new UK manufacturing and training facility on the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) near Sheffield.
Several of the products and systems manufactured by Architectural Profiles Limited were used to achieve both construction and building energy efficiencies, ahead of the new Part L2A (Oct 2010) compliance requirements, with insulation values down to 0.16W/m²/ºC and thereby substantially exceeding the minimum requirements for carbon emission reduction.
APL StrongBak SFS (structural wall framing system) was used on all walls to the building envelope. StrongBak is probably the fastest route to achieving building closure and air seal whilst allowing following trades in at the earliest opportunity. The StrongBak system supported cladding and panelling of the entire building envelope which included: APL 45HR(sinusoidal) metal profile cladding across the main body of the building in a gun metal grey metallic finish and the terracotta wall tiles on the feature front wall. APL aluminium standing seam profile was used on the roof and APL AP70 LCP louvre profiles were included within the manufacturing areas. In all, some 15,000m² of APL products were used on the most recent phase of the AMP project.
The combination of APL StrongBak, insulation and APL wall panels or profiles is an APL Energi System which, in an independent report by Building Sciences, were shown to save 45% on carbon emissions and 28% annual energy £ savings.
